However, a small study on public land transport had been conducted by CBS in 2003-04. v2: Edited, anonymous dataset for public distribution Transport Nepal National coverage Establishment is the enumeration unit of the survey and the basic unit of data analysis is "type of vehicle". The survey covers all types of vehicles in operation used for public land transport service including Bus/Minibus, truck/minitruck/tipper, taxi, jeep/van, microbus, tempo, tractor/power tiller, tourist vehicles, water tanker, petrol tanker. Sample survey data [ssd] The Land Transport Survey has covered 10 types of public vehicles. These are 1.Bus/Minibus, 2.Truck/Minitruck/Tipper, 3.Taxi, 4.Jeep/Van, 5.Microbus, 6.Tempo, 7.Tractor/Power tiller, 8.Tourist vehicles, 9.Water tanker, and 10.Petrol Tanker. The survey has collected and analyzed data Nepalese public land transport sector on 1. size, structure and distribution of vehicles, 2. employment contribution, 3. financial transactions, 4. operating and other expenses, 5. capital expenditure, 6. income and 7. other miscellaneous information including problem and suggestation. Central Bureau of Statistics The sampling design adopted in Nepal Public Land Transport Survey 2013 was stratified cluster sampling. For the sample selection purpose, 3 ecological belts (Mountains, Hills and Plains) were considered as domains and 10 types of vehicles were taken as strata. From each domain, Vehicle entrepreneurs represented by unique vehicle number were selected proportionately. It was single stage sampling design. Total sample size was 1736 vehicles' entrepreneurs. The size of sample was representative for national level estimates. During data collection phase, replacement of sample was allowed for "not found cases" from similar domain and strata. Face-to-face [f2f] Sample weights were calculated by using the number of vehicles registered in the Transport Management Department. Data editing took place at a number of stages throughout the processing, including manual editing and coding, editing during data entry, structure checking and completeness checking. For missing cases, both hot deck and cold deck methods were applied for imputation. Particularly, in case of stock information, some fixed functional arrays were incorporated in the data entry software. Data entry of the filled questionnaire was done manually at the central office using Cspro software. All samples were interviewed successfully. Therefore, there was 100 percent the response rate. All the estimates of the survey was computed at 95 percent confidence intervals using STATA software. In this sense, It can be said that the level of significance of the estimates of the survey was below 5 percent. To assess the reliability of the data, input-output ratio and value added contribution had been compared with the corresponding information obtained from National Accounting Section of CBS. Confidentiality of the respondents is guaranteed by Article 8 of Statistics Act 1958.
